Pinot Noir 2008

Active and careful vineyard management is vital for growing quality grapes. Good grapes make good wine. A warm spring, early summer with even flowering and a good fruit set promised a good vintage. The summer went on forever and finished slowly with warm autumn days and cool nights. The promise was kept. Hawkshead Pinot Noir aged for 11 month in French oak barrels (40% new) and was bottled on the 17/3/2009.

Colour
Bright garnet

Flavour Profile
Perfumed, exotic dried herb aromas, with vibrant red fruit character, cherries, and ripe tamarillo notes. There is a seamless integration between bright acidity and subtle muscular tannins; both support the clarity of flavour and drive the wine to great length. The wine shows complex varietal characteristics; with refined finesse and great aging potential. An excellent example of cool climate Pinot Noir!
