Pinot Noir First Vines 2008

The grapes are chosen from our first vines planted. We like to think of 'growing' our wines and care for the vineyard under organic guide lines. The 2008 vintage year started with a mild spring and even budburst. Settled warm weather in December assured good flowering and fruit set. We crop lightly at 4 tonnes per hectare for well ripened and even fruit. The wine aged for 11 month in French oak barrels (40% new).

Colour
Deep ruby

Flavour Profile
These older wines show more fruit power and concentration with powerful layered floral aromatics and sweet spice. Lingering notes of Morello cherries and violets, mace and nutmeg are perfectly supported by the gentle character of Gibbston acidity and very fine grained tannins. This is a premium fine wine of medium body yet full flavoured with great length to be enjoyed now but it will also age gracefully.
