Central Otago Pinot Noir is a true gem of New Zealand's wine industry. The region's unique soil and climate create the perfect conditions for producing exceptional wine. Hawkshead Pinot Noir is a true delight for wine aficionados. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out!

The Hawkshead Pinot Noir 2022 has a youthful, inviting bouquet of red and dark fruits and faint notes of sun-warmed dried wild herbs, forest floor and sweet spice nuances. The flavours mirror the aroma yet refine the fruit.

On the palate taste memories of ripe red berries and dark cherries, so typical for vibrant Central Otago Pinot Noir, come to mind. This sensory experience is supported by an elegant well-balanced structure of fine tannins and a nice vein of gentle acidity which leads to a juicy mouthfeel. A very appealing, delicious medium-bodied wine of great length.

Moderately deep ruby-red, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full with a sweet tone of cherry, blackberry, herbs and spice dusting, Medium-bodied, aromas of blackberry, cherry melded with thyme, oregano and cinnamon. The dusty mouthfeel carries the sweet fruit with poise, integrated acidity and herbs leave a longing for more. This Pinot Noir is harmonious with a beautiful balance, flaunting sweet fruit and herbs on a fine-textured palate. Match with duck breast and lamb loins over the next 5-7 years. The fruit is from Lowburn (70%), Gibbston (18%) and Bannockburn (12%), fermented with 100% indigenous yeasts to 13% alc, aged 10 months in French oak barrels, 10% new oak. Excellent quality, verging on outstanding

The very youthful 2022 vintage (4.5*) was hand-picked at Lowburn (70 per cent), Gibbston (18 per cent) and Bannockburn (12 per cent), and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (10 per cent new). Full, bright ruby, with a fragrant, slightly spicy bouquet, it is an elegant, vibrantly fruity red, with strong cherry, plum and spice flavours, savoury notes adding complexity, supple tannins, and excellent vigour and harmony. Best drinking 2025+.

94/ 100 Outstanding quality showing varietal purity and exemplifying regional type.

Gorgeously complex and enticing, the bouquet shows sweet berry, dried herb, game and toasted nut aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate delivering fine texture and polished tannins. Beautifully rounded and flowing with a lengthy sensual finish. At its best: now to 2032. June 2023.
