Why a dachshund you may ask? It’s a very famous one called LUMP. The owner is even more famous, and was called; Pablo Diego José Francisco Paula Juan Nepomuceno Maria de los Remidios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. In short: ‘PABLO PICASSO’ 25 October 1881 - 8 April 1973
Genius, painter, classical trained, he made sculptures, prints, fantastic ceramics, was a theatre designer with the Ballets Russe, a visual storyteller and centuries ahead of his time.
I believe one of his famous paintings springs to all of our to minds straight away. But for me, it’s all the fun stuff, the spontaneity, his doodles, the whimsical, the ceramics, the works on paper, the humour, the collages I adore. The sheer volume of work he produced is mind-blowing, its thought around 50,000 items of art. He was making, living, walking, dreaming art, from the giant painting of Guernica, visualising the horrors of war to a line drawing of a Dachshund. His dachshund name Lump is German for Charming Scoundrel.
We at HAWKSHEAD have two of those charming scoundrels, Fritz and Otto. Very helpful and valued team members in charge of rabbit control. If you would like to meet them and read their profile here
Pablo Picasso has been with me throughout my life. You always find inspiration in Picasso, wherever you are, in galleries, museums or something you see reminds you of him. Let me know if you share my passion and would like to see some more, not so well known fun and whimsical Picasso.
